There's a charge this year? Not that I mind but it's a little suprising. I've always thought it was cool the XYL's kept it free. I'm very much looking forward to attending on my Vespa 90 but I wonder if I'll even be able to keep up on a ride with my 250lbs. on a 90cc scoot.

$20 is very reasonable for pre-registering. I have attended BMW rallies that cost more. Not knowing weather or not I will be working that weekend makes it difficult to justify pre-registering. (I only know when I am going to work not more than two weeks in advance and usually only one week.) My company has "blacked out" Feb. thru June for requested time-off. Maybe this year I will be "lucky" and not have to work that weekend, but then I won't get paid either.

There a various reasons we decided to charge this year which I won't go into here, but the on-line registrations are already pouring in. This year we Jump the Shark so be prepared for something completely different in 2011.

Do we have any suggestions for accommodations? I stayed at Livinn Suites last year and felt out of the loop a little, tho it only took me ~15 mins on I-71 to get anywhere I needed to be. Some of the Louisville folks stayed at the Budget. I'd like to stay in the $50-$70 range if possible. Ideas?

Thanks for any input you can offer. I am pre-registered as of today (paypal says so). $20 is nothing for the amount of fun folks will have if it's anything like last year!

Do we have a group rate going on anywhere? I personally like to stay around $60-70 per night. HIE quotes $110 or so.

I'm posting to clear up some misconceptions about this year's WKRP. There is some discussion on the scootercincinnati.com site and elsewhere on whether or not to register and what registering is for (I have signed up to post on that site and am awaiting confirmation).

To clarify: You MUST be registered to attend ALL rally events - this includes the ride(s), all meals, etc. Participants will sign the usual waiver, there will be a "tagging" system in place and it will be enforced. In past years, this system has been applied to certain rally events but now will apply as a blanket.

This is not because we are hard-asses or are trying to exclude anyone, we welcome any and all to WKRP. We do all this work every year because we truly love scooters and scooterists.

Pre-registration gives us rally planners a precise idea of how many people to expect and allows us to plan for everything accordingly - swag, food, refreshments, ride distance and pace, even the parking. Last year, there were large numbers of last-minute attendees, which caused several problems that not only made for less fun but created some real safety concerns.

Over the years the XYL's have donated thousands of dollars from rally proceeds to local charities and community groups. We have been able to do this thanks to the generosity of our sponsors and raffle ticket buyers.

The XYL's look forward to seeing everyone at WKRP this year!

What does Rodney have planned? In previous years, even without $30 a head, someone has taken the time to call local hotels and reserve some rooms at group rate. This year, the response is "good luck". T-shirts are $6, Comet is free and open to the public. Lunch food is provided. What is the extra "Give" this year commensurate with the extra "take"? Or do we have to wait till next year to see what the extra proceeds will be spent on? Are the Rolling Stones playing next year? Are we renting out Fountain Square?

I talked to Mick and Keith and they are playing Isle of Man in 2011 and only do one scooter rally a year.Ronnie is on probation and cannot leave Britan so the Stones are out.

I would say that's my only complaint, but I ain't complainin'. It's not my rally, I'm just here for the ride. I am still, however trying to get around $125 per night (with tax an' crap) for a Holiday Inn room I'll only be in for 6 hrs a night. I'm trying to get a big enough group together to ask HI about a discount, but don't really feel like I should be. Couple folks from the 'ville said they stayed there last year and there were like 50 scooter folks there. They only have 54 rooms! If "we" are renting the whole durn place, seems like they would work with "us". But there again, I don't think I'm the "we" or "us".

Regardless what patch of ground I sleep on, I'm glad to be coming up for it!!

We do not have the huge amount of sponsors we've had in the past due to the recession it seems. Last year the scooter was given to us and the food was paid for. This year it's all on us.
As for next year what we are thinking about will take some big $$ up front so Grover, to answer your question, yes you have to wait, and no the Stones aren't playing. And I'll say again its $20 not $30 unless you forget to pre register.

That's why I want to make sure nobody thinks I'm complaining about the $20 reg fee. No biggie there. I just wanna be first on the list to know if the Holiday Inn Express everyone is talking about will have a decent discount for the scooterists who wanna bunk there. Also, I would say try Bob Seger or George Thorogood for next year. Those old boys are still touring.

Cool. So does Google and AAA. I'm there. They have rooms aplenty for $53 per night. Several of us LSG folks will be there.
